The Editor's Bit

Another month, another Stun and after getting the last one finished in record time, I’m back to writing this on a Friday morning with the sun streaming through the window after pulling another all-nighter. I probably could have finished earlier, but we’re in the process of changing internet & phone provider and both services got cut off on Wednesday.

That could have spelt disaster, but my new provider, XS4All, provided a UMTS dongle as a stop-gap. The only trouble was, it only works on one computer at a time and I couldn’t reach the rest of our local network to print or transfer files, which slowed down production of the Stun quite a bit.

After a bit of investigation, I discovered that a dongle can be plugged into the new router that will be installed by XS4All later today, but I didn’t know what settings to use. I sent an e-mail to the help desk at 21:15, and much to my surprise, got a reply an hour later with detailed instructions on how to set it up. That made things much easier and I could print again, so thank you XS4All, you saved this edition of Stun.

Now, I’d better finish this and upload it to the printers before the man from XS4All arrives. All of our usual stuff is here for you, including photos from St. Patrick’s Day, so enjoy your Stun.
