The Editor's Bit

My column has moved again! Over the last few months, it’s either been squatting on Elly’s pages or next to Behind Bars on page 6, but this month, Elly found plenty to Rant & Rave about and I’d already filled the other pages with photos. So, it's ended up on page 8.

I was planning to write about the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day parties, but didn’t in the end.   As we’re next to the music pages, I will let you know which ones I’ll be going to, just in case you want me to take your photo.

I’ll kick off in the Blarney Stone before heading to Het Hok, where my old friends Bernard Joyce & Alan McLachlan will be playing as The Exiles from 9 ‘til midnight. After that, it’s off to Molly Malone’s where the Craic is always mighty on Paddy’s Day. If other years are anything to go by, I’ll probably finish up back at the Blarney Stone, ‘cos they usually have a late license.

Of course, I’m talking about Paddy’s Day parties on Tuesday 17th March, not the ones on a Saturday promoted as St. Patrick’s Week where Guinness, Murphy’s and Jameson give out all sorts of mock Irish tat. I used some of the bits I’ve picked up over the last few years to make this month’s cover; I wonder what I’ll come home with this year!
