The Editor's Bit

May is one of the months where I usually have a regular theme I can use on the cover; in this case, the Amsterdam Sevens rugby tournament, but that’s in June this year, so I needed an alternative. Luckily, I took some photos at the Rolling Kitchens Festival last year, so that’s what I’ve gone with, because the food trucks and musicians will be back in the Westerpark from Wednesday 9th to Sunday 13th May. I can’t remember the name of the band on the cover, but they must have been good, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken a photo.

There’s a good chance drummer Luis Diaz will be playing somewhere at the Rolling Kitchens, but I saw him in Bourbon Street, where he insisted on a photo with me.

As it turned out, it was the last photo of me with long hair, because I finally took up the offer from Terrance in Head Enlight District of a free hair-cut as a thank-you for the photo and mention of his barber shop in the March edition of the Stun. I’m well pleased with the result and would recommend them whole heartedly to all my friends. No more annual hair cuts for me; I’ll be a regular at HED.

During my Kings Day rounds, I dropped in the Coca Leaf Experience to see Tommy and ended up on a photo with him, Paddy from the Blarney Stone and Archie the dog. Before I left, Tommy gave me 24 miniatures of Agwa de Bolivia to spread the love on Kings Day. See page 16 to find out who got them.

On my way home on King’s Day, I bumped into my old friend Wayne, who I hadn’t seen since the 1990s, so it was another late night!

All of our usual stuff is here, including more photos from King’s Day, so enjoy your May edition of the Amsterdam Stun.
