The Editor's Bit

Nobody responded to last month’s Cover Competition, not even the people that joined me on the IJ when I scattered Elly’s ashes! Café West Indië used to be in that building and I chose it as last month’s cover photo because Elly was living above the bar when we spent our first night together.

I can see that building from my house, so it made sense to scatter Elly’s ashes between where we spent our first and last nights together. A flotilla of small boats, filled with family & friends, went out on the IJ on a sunny Sunday afternoon and after a cruise around the canals, we finished up in Molly Malone’s; see pages 14-15 for the photos.

And so to this month’s Cover Competition: If you can tell me the (current) name of the restaurant featured on this month’s cover, I’ll give you an Honourable Mention on this page next month. I think it’s easier than last month’s, so if I get too many correct answers, I’ll limit it to the first five.
