The Editor's Bit

Here we go with the first Stun of 2013, a bit later than I originally had in mind, but earlier than the alternative, which was a combined January/February Stun. I could tell you why we’re late, but I don’t want to bore you.

The City Council are promoting a lot of momentous occasions this year, like 400 years of the canal belt, 225 years of Felix Meritis and 125 years of the Concertgebouw. Well, you can add another anniversary to that illustrious list: 20 years of the Amsterdam Stun! We’re not planning a party, but if anybody would like to throw one in our honour, we’ll be delighted.

Nobody gets an honourable mention for identifying the location of the Christmas tree on last month’s cover, because nobody seemed to know that it was on Thorbeckeplein.

Let’s have another go: the first 5 people to e-mail/sms me the names of the two bars on the front cover will receive an honourable mention in next month’s Stun.

We haven’t got much in the way of Christmas photos in this edition, but it will be different next month, because we’re going to the Charity Chicken Foundation’s Alternative Xmas Party in Molly Malone’s on the 25th January. You can read all about it on page 9.

Talking of Molly Malone’s, they have generously donated the prize for this month’s crossword, a meal for two.
