Now that the clocks have sprung forward to Summer time, I decided to go for something a bit more colourful for this month’s Cover Competition. All you have to do is tell me where the cover photo was taken and you could get an Honourable Mention on this page next month. Now that the clocks have sprung forward to Summer time, I decided to go for something a bit more colourful for this month’s Cover Competition. All you have to do is tell me where the cover photo was taken and you could get an Honourable Mention on this page next month. Contact details are on page 2, or you can tell me in person if you see me in a bar.

Davey had no problem identifying the location of the statue on last month’s cover; he said he passes it on his way to work every day and it’s next to the bus stop at the entrance to Westerpark on Haarlemmerweg, so he gets this month’s Honourable Mention.

Paula gets an Admirable Afterthought for coming second, and for her impressive 19 bar Guinness pub crawl on Paddy’s Day. I only made it to four ‘Irish’ bars that day, including O’Porto, where I had a few beers with Sidd, my quiz teammate and neighbour. More photos from my Paddy’s Day pub crawl are on pages 14-17.

The new earlier weekend closing time for bars in the Red Light District don’t make sense  to me; why can’t Murray’s allow people in after 1am, but in the Internationaal next door, it’s 3am, and why does the zone go south of Damstraat just enough to include Susie’s and De Buurvrouw when Warmoesstraat, Zeedijk, Nes and Nieuwmarkt are open as normal?
